About OTOMcomposite
From an EU research breakthrough to a commercial software and engineering partner for the thermoplastic composites industry.
Our story
OTOM software was initiated from the EU ambliFibre project back in 2016. It served as a major breakthrough for the continuous and discontinuous production of neuralgic tape-wound tubular composite components — such as tanks for automotive applications or composite ultra-deep-water risers.
Amin Zaami, Ph.D. from the University of Twente took the OTOM model further and built OTOM software versions for academic purposes. After his Ph.D. graduation, in 2021 the start-up officially kicked off by releasing engineering services and software to the commercial community.
OTOM improves the laser-assisted tape winding process and systems to enable efficient, flexible production of advanced tubular composite products from thermoplastic unidirectional (UD) fiber-reinforced pre-impregnated raw stock material — also called prepreg or tape.
